CTC Committee Members

Chairman - Richard Calvert

Richard has been chairman for CTC Swale since 2010.

Dick Calvert joined the club in 2007 when it was still part of the West Kent section and has ridden with the club ever since. When Swale became a separate group in 2010, Dick was asked to chair and has done so since then, seeing CTC Swale increase in membership, popularity and coverage over the years.

The main jobs of chairman are to ensure the smooth running of the club by having a competent committee covering all the essentials of organising rides, maintaining membership and finances, maintaining contact with Cycling UK and a good social events.

Club Secretary - Deborah Franks

Deborah joined the CTC Committee as if the 14th May 2022 taking over from the long serving Club Secretry

The club secretary role is a link between Cycling UK (CTC ) and the club members. Responsibilities also include taking notes from all meetings and having them available to all committee members and all CTC paid members who attend the AGM.

Deborah has been cyclilng with CTC for 6 years and is a very popular and well respected member of the club

Safegarding Officer - Jo Maw

Jo has been riding a bike since she was a child but joining CTC Swale took away all the self consciousness that she has as an adult. She has been riding with the club since 2014 and has been so grateful for all of the encouragement, help and advice. To repay that debt in a small way Jo has been our Welfare Officer for the club since 2017 and then in 2020 this role changed to Safegarding Officer.

Safeguarding is about making sure the club and its members have safe, happy rides, and a great atmosphere.  All members can talk and confide in Jo and she is always there to listen.

Rider Leader Co-ordinator - Ian Ward

Ian Ward has been assisting with the role of rider leader co-ordinator for a while and was voted in  this role full time at the AGM this year in April 2023.  Ian has been an active rider with CTC Swale since October 2021.

This role is the heart of our little group. Keeping the spread sheet up to date can be a daily task at times.  Please hit the "Ride                                                   List" above to see the clubs plans for the next few months.

Social Secretary - Michele East

Michele has been social secretary since June 2020.  Due to Covid the social side has been very quite. The club has managed to squeeze in a Sunday Roast, Xmas Quiz night, BBQ at Tankerton with annual trophy awards.  Michele is hopping that 2024 the club will be able to arrange lots of events, so please keep an eye on our "Events" page above.

Michele has been cycling since December 2014 and joined CTC Swale the following summer after meeting riders on an organised sportive.  Michele has never looked back since.

Treasurer - Kevin

Kevin has been treasurer for over four years now and has been keeping the clubs pennies safe.  The money that we raise through events helps pay for the web site, first aid kits, first aid training, AGM Meetings and advertising.

Kevin has been riding for more than 30 years in all weathers, the first 20 years were mostly on mountain bikes.  He has ridden throughout much of the UK and Ireland, a little in Switzerland, Austria and Canada.  After he retired he had much more time to go riding, so considered joining a club for the social aspect as well the riding, and became a member of CTC Swale in Dec 2016.

Members Secretary - Paul Lane

Paul has been members secretary now for 3 years. The main role is to ensure that members of CTC Swale are also a paid members of Cycling UK.   Good news, that even through a world wide pandemic members to the group have stayed high and even more new members have joined.

Paul moved to Swale from West Kent where he found CTC Swale on the Internet and did 3 guest rides and then joined in July 2018. The club is a great way to explore the Swale area and he found all club members friendly and the rides accessible to drop into as and when time permitted.
